Notes ahead of tonight's game in Boston

FACING THE BRUINS

The Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins will meet twice this season, with tonight's game being the first in the two-game series. The Flames went 1-1-0 against the Bruins in 2015-16, picking up a 5-4 overtime win in Calgary on Dec. 4, 2015 and dropping a 2-1 decision in Boston on Mar. 1, 2016. In their last 10 visits to Boston, the Flames are 3-7-0. Their last road win against the Bruins came on Mar. 5, 2015 when they collected a 4-3 shootout victory. The Flames' all-time regular season record against the Bruins is 36-57-10-0-0 (22-24-4-0-0 at home, 14-33-6-0-0 on the road).

TAKING ON THEIR OLD TEAM

The Flames have three former Bruins on their roster: Dougie Hamilton, Chad Johnson and Dennis Wideman.

Hamilton was the Bruins' first round pick (ninth overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. In 178 regular season games with Boston, the defenceman had 22 goals and 83 points. In 19 postseason skates, he netted two goals and 10 points.

Johnson appeared in 27 games for the Bruins in the 2013-14 campaign, going 17-4-3 with two shutouts, a 2.10 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Wideman dressed for 256 regular season games with the Bruins, scoring 33 goals and 199 points in that stretch. He also played in 30 playoff games with Boston, accruing 22 points in the postseason.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS VS. BOSTON

As a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Deryk Engelland made his NHL debut vs. the Bruins on Nov. 10, 2009.

During his time with the Dallas Stars, Jyrki Jokipakka scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 3, 2015 in a game against Boston.

Johnny Gaudreau set a single-game career-high in points when he registered four in the Flames' 5-4 overtime win against the Bruins on Dec. 4, 2015.

ON THIS DATE ...

On Nov. 25, 1981, the Flames acquired Lanny McDonald and a second round draft pick from the Colorado Rockies for Don Lever and Bob MacMillan.
