SAINT PAUL, MN -- The Calgary Flames will get defenceman Deryk Engelland back ahead of Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The 33-year-old left the team on Sunday due to the birth of his second child, Talon. He has missed the past two games to spend time with his family.
"Engelland is going to join us upon our return to Calgary," Bob Hartley said after Wednesday's practice in Minnesota. "I talked to Engy yesterday afternoon. The entire family is doing very well. The baby is fine, mom is fine, and he's a happy dad."
With Engelland away from the team, the Flames summoned Tyler Wotherspoon from the Stockton Heat on an emergency basis.
The 23-year-old has played 10 games with the Flames this year. He is a plus-one during his time in the NHL this season and has been averaging 14:07 of ice time per game. He is expected to be paired up with Jakub Nakladal in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild.
