by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames and Joe Colborne are proud to announce details on a new community program, Colborne’s Forces in partnership with Packers Plus Energy Services Inc.

Flames forward Joe Colborne has purchased season’s tickets for Canadian Forces members to attend every Flames home game. Following every home game, the Canadian Forces guests will meet the Flames forward and check out the team’s locker room. The guests will also be saluted in-game throughout the year.

“I have always had a deep respect for the work that the Canadian Armed Forces do to protect our country and I am humbled to be able to give back to them through this program, Colborne’s Forces,” said Joe Colborne. “They sacrifice so much for our freedom and I can’t thank them enough for their honour and commitment to our country.”

Packers Plus is thrilled to be the program partner and donate five-hundred dollars for every point Colborne registers this season to the Calgary Military Family Resource Centre.

“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Joe Colborne and the Calgary Flames for Colborne’s Forces. The commitment of our men and women in uniform, and their families, is invaluable,” said Dan Themig, the President & CEO of Packers Plus. “Through this initiative, we can acknowledge their dedication throughout the season. We hope Joe takes his game to the next stage and scores a hundred goals!”

“The men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces continue to be blessed with the ceaseless support of all Canadians,” said Brigadier-General Wayne Eyre, Commander of the Third Canadian Division and Joint Task Force West. “Initiatives such as that of Joe Colborne and the Calgary Flames are greatly appreciated by all soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen in Western Canada. We are humbled and very appreciative of their generosity.”

The Flames host the Canadian Forces Appreciation Night each year by welcoming hundreds of Canadian Forces members, family members and veterans to the game which honours them for their services. This season, the Canadian Forces Appreciation Night will take place on Friday, January 9, 2015.
