Colborne’s Forces to host benefit concert with Emerson Drive

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames forward Joe Colborne will host the inaugural Colborne’s Forces Benefit Concert with award winning country music group Emerson Drive on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at The Military Museums of Calgary. All proceeds will be directed to Support our Troops with a portion directed to The Military Museums Foundation.

Joe Colborne announced his marquee community program, Colborne’s Forces in November 2014 in partnership with Packers Plus. Colborne has purchased season’s tickets for Canadian Armed Forces members to attend every Flames home game. Following every home game, the Canadian Armed Forces guests meet the Flames forward and check out the team’s locker room. The guests are saluted in-game throughout the year. The extension of this support has resulted in the creation of this unique country concert event, exclusive fundraiser and tribute to the Canadian military.

“For the last two and half seasons I have been honoured and humbled to meet with Canadian Armed Forces personnel after our home games. This concert event is an augmentation of this appreciation program. We will be doing a lot of storytelling from the Canadian Armed Forces and Support our Troops,” said Joe Colborne. “I am really excited to team up with Emerson Drive to put on an entertaining show and host an important tribute and fundraiser for the Canadian Armed Forces, which I have such deep-rooted respect for.”

Tickets for the benefit concert go on sale Wednesday, March 30th through the event website. Sponsorships and VIP packages are now available; www.colbornesforces.com

The Support Our Troops Program is an invaluable Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) morale and welfare program that exists to help CAF members and their families meet unique challenges and individual circumstances, most often associated with the demands of military service. The team within Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) works closely with Department of National Defence (DND), as well as with provincial and municipal community agencies and other charitable organizations, to help find the best support for members and their families.

The Military Museums Foundation is a non-profit society that brings Canadian military heritage to life for over 18,000 students each year. By providing Alberta curriculum-based education programs, the Foundation supports The Military Museums’ mission to Remember, Preserve, and Educate.
