The Calgary Flames are proud to announce Canadian Forces Appreciation Night at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Monday January 11th as the Flames take on the Colorado Avalanche.
This is the fourth consecutive year in which the Flames have celebrated our Canadian Forces with an appreciation game at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Once again, through the incredible support of Flames season ticket holders, all available Calgary and area soldiers and a guest will attend the game.
"On behalf of the Canadian Forces we would like to thank the Calgary Flames Hockey Club and their season ticket holders for their tremendous generosity making it possible for Army, Air Force and Navy members from the Calgary area to attend this important Canadian Forces Appreciation event,” said General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. “We are very honoured by their support for the men and women of the Canadian Forces."
Included in the evening’s festivities will be a pre-game ceremonial puck drop by three members of the Canadian Forces representing Navy, Air Force and Army accompanied by General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. The second intermission will be dedicated to a friendly competition between Canadian Forces members with TELUS making a donation on behalf of the winners to the Calgary Military Family Resource Centre.
“It is an honour to welcome the men and women of the Canadian Forces into our home at the Pengrowth Saddledome”, said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude for their continued personal commitment and sacrifice. Additionally, I would like to thank our season ticket holders for their generous display of support in hosting our Canadian Forces for this evening.”
Other activities include a repel crew from the roof of the Saddledome, Military Band, “Support our Troops” merchandise on the concourse, military vehicles displayed on the tarmac and numerous in-game promotions and video dedicated to the Canadian Forces.
