Bennett's Back

The Flames had Sam Bennett back in action with Group A on Sunday. The forward missed Thursday's intrasquad scrimmage and Saturday's practice (unfit to participate) but was a full participant throughout Sunday's skate, centering Derek Ryan and Joakim Nordstrom.
"It was minor. I think he's back to 100 percent," head coach Geoff Ward explained. "I don't think it's going to bother him again."

"Tomorrow's game will definitely have an impact"

Practice Notes

The Flames have been taking a look at a multitude of line combinations ahead of their 2020-21 season opener on Winnipeg but the defensive pairings have remained the same over the weekend, with Rasmus Andersson playing alongside captain Mark Giordano, newcomer Christopher Tanev skating with Noah Hanifin, Juuso Valimaki taking reps with Nikita Nesterov, and rookie Connor Mackey paired up with Michael Stone, who is attending camp on a PTO.

Flames prospects Dustin Wolf, Jakob Pelletier and Connor Zary took part in their first practice at training camp, joining Group B on Sunday afternoon. The trio arrived in Calgary earlier this week, fresh off their stint at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton.

Ward and his coaching staff have no finalized their roster for Monday's scrimmage but there is a possibility of seeing Wolf, Pelletier and Zary on one of the intrasquad rosters.

Coming Soon

The Flames will host their final intrasquad scrimmage on Monday, starting at 7:00 PM MT and being streamed on CalgaryFlames.com. The team will then have a day off on Tuesday, a practice on Wednesday and then travel to Winnipeg for Thursday's season opener against the Jets.
