PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Calgary Flames announced today that with the 64th overall selection at the 2014 NHL Draft, they have drafted defenceman Brandon Hickey from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Hickey was ranked 63rd amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting's final rankings.

In the 2013-14 season, Hickey skated in 49 games for the Saints, scoring four goals and 22 points. The Saint finished first in the North Division of the AJHL and went on to advance to the Western Canada Cup.

He also played for Canada West in the 2013 U19 World Junior A Challenge. In that tournament, he registered one assist in four games and helped lead his team to a bronze medal.

Hickey has committed to Boston University in 2014-15.
