Calgary, AB – The Rotary Club of Calgary, the Rotary Club of Calgary South and the Calgary Flames are pleased to announce the formation of a new partnership dedicated to giving back to the community.
The "Rotary/Flames Gift to Community" is a joint effort that both organizations are enthusiastic about. This alliance is committed to enhancing the existing fundraising efforts of the Rotary Clubs and the Calgary Flames through the recently formed Flames Foundation for Life.
"We're really excited. From our perspective, we were looking for a partner that excelled at philanthropy. When we think about what Rotary and the Flames can do together, we know we can have a huge impact," says Bruce MacDonald, Rotary Club of Calgary South President.
"Everybody wants to be part of a winning team," says Bill Redmond, Rotary Club of Calgary President. "We feel confident that this will generate so many positive things for generations to come."
"The original mandate of the Flames ownership group 25 years ago, and the one that's still prominent today, was to ensure that the Calgary Flames would have a positive impact on the quality of life in southern Alberta," says Ken King, Calgary Flames President and CEO.
"With Rotary by our side, we can give back to the community in a way that's more meaningful than ever."
Formed in Calgary in 1914, Rotary has been an important part of the fabric of Calgary for over 90 years and has a proven history of fundraising and community service. To date, Calgary Rotary clubs have given back millions of dollars to both local and international communities.
The Flames Foundation for Life is a charitable arm of the Calgary Flames through which more than 29 million dollars in funding has already been directed to education, medical research, health, amateur sport and recreation.
