COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Defenceman Chris Butler (St. Louis, Mo./Calgary Flames/Univ. of Denver) has been added to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for the 2012 IIHF Men's World Championship it was announced today by USA Hockey. The tournament is scheduled for May 4-20, 2012, in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.
While Butler will be making his debut on the U.S. Men's National Team, he has represented Team USA in the past, playing for the 2006 U.S. National Junior Team.
The first 17 players for the U.S. Men's National Team were announced on April 11. Forward Joey Crabb was added on April 12. Team USA now has 12 forwards, six defencemen and one goaltender on its roster. The maximum roster size is 25, which includes three goaltenders and 22 forwards and defencemen.
