Brodie to Heat, Mikkelson a Flame

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that defenseman Brendan Mikkelson has been claimed off waivers.



As well, the team announced that defenseman T.J. Brodie has been assigned to the Flames top affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Mikkelson, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, has 67 games of NHL experience with Anaheim. He has five assists and 38 penalty minutes over parts of three NHL seasons with the Ducks. Mikkelson was originally drafted by Anaheim in the 2nd round (31st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
