by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- TJ Brodie will launch his new charitable program, TJ Brodie - Skate in Strides for Cystic Fibrosis on Tuesday, October 7th at the FanAttic retail store in North Hill Mall. Brodie has designed and created custom skate guards that will raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and also help foster awareness about organ donation.

TJ Brodie – Skate in Strides for Cystic Fibrosis launch:

When: Tuesday, October 7th from 3:00-4:00 PM

Where: North Hill Mall FanAttic Store

What: TJ Brodie will be signing the skate guards and autographs for fans with a chance to win a VIP experience to a Flames game

*Media are welcome*

Brodie has always been a supporter of the fight against Cystic Fibrosis and decided that he wanted to do more to raise awareness. His cousin suffers from the debilitating disease and received a double lung transplant two years ago.

“My cousin is like a brother to me and because of this organ donor, he now has a new breath of life,” said Brodie. “I wanted to do everything I could to help others like him have that same opportunity and to help find a cure.”

Brodie’s skate guards will be sold through FanAttic retailers and online for $20 a pair. Proceeds from the guards will be directed to Cystic Fibrosis of Canada. Brodie will then match the proceeds raised for every pair sold and the Flames Foundation for Life will match Brodie’s donation.

When Calgary Flames players align with charitable organizations, the Flames Foundation for Life supports the players and their programs by matching donations for up to $25,000 per season for each player.
