Injured Calgary Flames forwards Todd Bertuzzi and Rene Bourque have taken the next step in their respective rehab processes and skated briefly on Thursday.
However, Bourque, who has a high ankle sprain, and Bertuzzi, who underwent surgery to repair cartilage damage in his knee, are not set to return to the line-up in the near future.
"It's really in the hands of the medical staff right now," said coach Mike Keenan. "They're not cleared to play till that time. They're under the jurisdiction of the medical team. Once they're cleared to play, then it's a coaching decision . . . but they're not even close to that at this point.
"But they're in their rehab and they're making progress."
Bourque was injured on Feb. 19 against Minnesota and Bertuzzi has been out of the line-up since March 1.
