Sam Bennett has wasted little time making his presence felt in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Calgary Flames prospect was named the OHL Player of the Month for March after recording 10 goals, 10 assists and 20 points in eight games for the Kingston Frontenacs.
Bennett, Calgary’s first pick (No. 4) in the 2014 NHL Draft, led the Frontenacs to wins in each of his eight games in March. He tallied a six-game goal-scoring streak from March 4-14, including multiple goals games three times. The Holling Landing, ON native earned first star honours three times in the month of March, too, and was named the OHL's Player of the Week for the week ending March 15 after recording six goals and 10 points in three games.
His efforts helped Kingston secure sixth in the OHL’s Eastern Conference with a record of 32-28-5-3 and a date with the North Bay Battalion in the opening round of the OHL Playoffs.
In all, Bennett has collected 11 goals and 24 points in 11 games since being returned to the Frontenacs by the Flames on Feb. 21.
