Two of the Calgary Flames young prospects are prospering at the World Championships.
Centre Mikael Backlund, a first round pick in 2007, and defenceman Tim Erixon, a first round pick in 2009, are both playing for Sweden at the IIHF World Championships in Slovakia.
The Swedes fell to Canada on Monday but advance to the quarter final with a game against Germany on Wednesday.
Backlund is averaging about 10 minutes of ice time a game and had two goals and one assist and is plus four through six games at the tournament. He has 13 shots on net.
Erixon has one assist and is averaging 18 minutes a game. He has seven shots on goal.
