Andrew Ference signs contract extension

The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Andrew Ference to a three-year contract extension, the team announced today.

As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ference is entering his third full season with the Flames. He was acquired at the trade deadline in 2003 from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ference, 27, registered career highs in assists (27), points (31), and games played (82) during the 2005-06 season. Ference appeared in all seven playoff games vs. Anaheim posting four assists.

In 333 NHL regular season games, the Edmonton, AB native has posted 87 points (19 goals, 68 assists) and 301 penalty minutes.

The Flames acquired Andrew Ference from the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 10, 2003 in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
