— The ‘Dome was rocking last night as the Calgary Flames outlasted the Chicago Blackhawks, winning 2-1 in overtime.
And, like he's done many times before in his short NHL career, it was none other than Johnny Hockey himself who sent the Flames faithful home happy.
You’ve got to see the winning goal! Hands like butter…
Social Media was buzzing following Gaudreau's dirty dangle.
When all was said and done, it was Johnny who was the hero, but it was Karri Ramo who kept the Flames in the game -- by making a save like this:
Props to Blackhawks' forward Brandon Mashinter for the move to get around Ramo, but no "finn-ish". The Flames' netminder came up big.
Calgary took an early lead in the contest when Sean Monahan corralled a loose ball in front, slid to his backhand and buried his 7th goal of the year.
It was a slick goal for sure, check it out!
On the Blackhawks side of things, we’d like to congratulate Patrick Kane on extending his scoring streak to 15 games — now get out of town and score on someone else, like Vancouver tonight.
DID YOU KNOW: With the win in overtime against the 'Hawks, the Flames are now 5-0 in games that end in the extra frame! Johnny has the winner in two of those games and has factored into all of the goals except one. As a bonus he leads the NHL in overtime points with 4. But we all knew that would happen, right?
Also, home ice has been friendly to Calgary of late, having won their last four at Scotiabank Saddledome. Unfortunately, they’re leaving the friendly confines of the 'Dome on Monday, en route to sunny Anaheim to face the Ducks. The Flames haven't won at the Honda Center since 2006. Could this be the year they break the Disneyland Curse?
