CALGARY, AB -- Winning is so great, the Calgary Flames decided to win eight!
In a row at home, that is.
The Flames took the Buffalo Sabres at the ‘Dome last night where they sent the fans home happy with a 4-3 win.
There may have been quite a bit of vomit pre-game and not because of nerves.
Many on the Flames roster were suffering from an illness - even starting goalie Jonas Hiller!
The Flames took a 1-0 lead in the second period on a goal from Sean Monahan. Later in the second period, Dougie Hamilton found himself in from of the Sabres net where he found Markus Granlund with a beauty backhand pass.
After the Flames relinquished the lead, it was Monahan who got it right back for the Flames.
Sabres defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen completed his hat-trick late in the third to tie the game.
Props to the big man for being the first d-man to score three goals in the third since Flames alumni, Al MacInnis did it in 1983!
Only a minute later, it was Johnny Hockey who split the wickets on Chad Johnson to put the Flames up 4-3 and that’s how the game would end.
That game winning goal would be Gaudreau’s fourth and that ties him for second most in the NHL.
The young guns were on full display last night.
The dynamic duo of Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau propelled the Flames with five combined points in the win.
This is also our new favourite thing.
