The Ducks announced on Monday that they have recalled center Petteri Wirtanen from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Wirtanen, 21 (5/28/86), appeared in five games for Portland this season, going scoreless.  Last month, Wirtanen played in five preseason games with the Ducks, scoring 2-2=4 points with six penalty minutes (PIM) and a +2 rating.

Originally selected by Anaheim in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Wirtanen made his North American professional debut in 2006-07 with Portland.  In 67 games with the Pirates, he recorded 7-11=18 points with 40 PIM.
