The Ducks have placed LW Aaron Voros on injured reserve with a fractured orbital bone, suffered Wednesday night in a fight with Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa in Anaheim's 5-4 shootout loss in Vancouver. In addition, RW Dan Sexton has been recalled from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Sexton, 23 (4/29/87), has appeared in 13 games with Anaheim this season, scoring 1-2=3 points with two penalty minutes (PIM) while averaging 13:08 time-on-ice (TOI). Sexton posted a season-high three-game point streak (1-2=3) from Nov. 21-27, including his first goal of the season on Nov. 26 vs. Chicago. Originally assigned to Syracuse on Nov. 10, Sexton collected 3-3=6 points with two PIM in six AHL contests with the Crunch. He was most recently assigned to the club on Dec. 5 and played in two contests with Syracuse during that stint.
Signed as a free agent on Apr. 7, 2009, Sexton made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2009-10. Sexton collected 9-10=19 points with 16 PIM in 41 games last season, leading all Ducks rookies in assists and points. Among NHL rookies, his points-per-game average (.46) was tied for 10th while his 6-5=11 points in the month of December ranked second. The 5-10, 174-pound winger has appeared in 54 career NHL games with Anaheim, earning 10-12=22 points with 18 PIM.
