Team USA blitzed Kazakhstan 10-0 for its first win of the 2010 IIHF World Championships in Germany.
The Americans came out strong in their first game of the relegation round, scoring nine of the 10 goals in the first 40 minutes of play. Defenseman Matt Gilroy had a hat trick in the game, while eight players in all scored for USA.
Ducks forward Ryan Carter had an assist on the final goal of the game, scored by Chris Kreider with 1:03 left in regulation. Carter was also finished with a plus-one rating in 11:31 of ice time.
The United States (1-1-2) will next play on Sunday against France, a team the U.S. beat 3-1 in an exhibition on May 4 in Amiens, France.
