The 2008-09 season for the Ducks was a wild ride that began in training camp in September and ended with a heartbreaking Game 7 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Semifinals. That eight-month journey for Anaheim was filled with an abdundance of lasting memories. is showcasing the top 40 moments from the season that was. Here is the second-to-last installment - moments 6-10.

10. April 10, 2009 vs. Dallas
Clawing their way back into playoff contention down the stretch, the Ducks finally reached a point where they could clinch a berth. It came against Dallas on Fan Appreciation Night at Honda Center and Anaheim capitalized on its opportunity in a 4-3 shootout win.

Only needing one point to qualify, the Ducks earned it just by going to overtime. Eventually in a shootout, a speedy move by Teemu Selanne helped add an extra point for good measure.

Fourth Straight Playoff Berth Clinched

9. November 12, 2008
On a busy day at Honda Center, a new Ducks regime officially began. After Brian Burke stepped down as the team's Executive VP/GM, Bob Murray was quickly announced as his replacement.

Elevating Murray to the new role would prove critical, as he would pull the trigger on several big moves that helped ensure success in the 2008-09 season and beyond.

8. April 23, 2009 vs San Jose
Dropping Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals at home to the Sharks, the Ducks were still left leading the series 2-1. But they knew seizing momentum back with a win in Game 4 was imperative and it showed.

Led by Jonas Hiller (second shutout of series) and Bobby Ryan (two second-period goals), Anaheim dismantled the league's best regular season team en route to a 4-0 victory.

7. April 19, 2009 at San Jose
Not many pundits gave the Ducks a chance against San Jose in the playoffs. Certainly not at HP Pavilion, where the Sharks had a league-best 32-5-4 mark in the regular season. Anaheim quickly quieted those thoughts with two straight road wins to open the playoffs.

Game 2 was close. Tied 1-1 midway through the third period, Andrew Ebbett and Drew Miller each scored in a 3:33 span to give the Ducks a lead they would never relinquish in a 3-2 win.

6. May 12, 2009 vs. Detroit
It was do-or-die for Anaheim in Game 6 against the Red Wings. Back home after a tough Game 5 loss at Detroit, the Ducks were faced with elimination for the first time in the playoffs. They fought to see another day with a 2-1 victory.

Second-period goals from Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry proved to be enough, as Anaheim's defense came up big again. As the final horn sounded, the intense emotions of the series were put on full display at Honda Center.
