The Ducks have reassigned center David Steckel
and defensemen Alex Grant
and Nolan Yonkman
to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Steckel, 31 (3/15/82), was scoreless in four games with Anaheim this season. Signed to a one-year contract on Nov. 11, Steckel was recalled from Norfolk on Dec. 5 and made his season debut with the Ducks on Dec. 6 at Chicago. The 6-6, 215-pound center has appeared in 17 AHL contests with Iowa and Norfolk this season, collecting 3-3=6 points with a +3 rating and 12 penalty minutes (PIM).
Grant, 24 (1/20/89), scored 2-0=2 points with a +3 rating in two games with the Ducks. Recalled from Norfolk on Nov. 29, Grant made his NHL debut with Anaheim on Nov. 30 at San Jose. He has appeared in 19 games for Norfolk this season, collecting 6-6=12 points with a +2 rating and 10 PIM. The 6-4, 205-pound blueliner returns to the Admirals ranked tied for fifth among AHL defensemen in goals. He also currently leads the Admirals in shots on goal (53), ranks tied for second in scoring, third in goals and tied for second in assists.
Yonkman, 32 (4/1/81), did not appear in a game with Anaheim following his Dec. 11 recall. He earned one assist (0-1=1) in two games with the Ducks earlier this season, including his first point with Anaheim on Nov. 29 vs. Calgary. Yonkman has appeared in 20 games with Norfolk this season, scoring 0-4=4 points with a +1 rating and 33 PIM in 20 AHL games.
