The second annual Rivalry Hold’em Poker Challenge will take place next Thursday, Mar. 1 at San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino (7 p.m.-Midnight).
The joint effort with the cross-town rival Los Angeles Kings will raise funds for both the Anaheim Ducks and Kings Care Foundations. Ducks fans can register online (AnaheimDucks.com/poker) for $35 to play alongside Ducks alumni, broadcasters and other personalities, with the opportunity to win a portion of $10,000 in cash prizes. The Ducks return to defend their title as Anaheim fan Robert Milakovic took the top prize in last year’s tournament. Click here for more information and to register online
Ducks alumni appearing in the tournament include Guy Hebert, Sean Pronger, Jeff Friesen, JF Jomphe and Jason Marshall. In addition, Ducks broadcasters John Ahlers and Brian Hayward will ante-up for the tournament. Other Ducks personalities include television host Kent French, reporter and host Jenny Cavnar as well as Ducks blogger Adam Brady. The $35 buy-in for all Ducks fans includes a commemorative deck of playing cards, which will be distributed at registration, as well as free entry into the after party at the casino’s nightclub, The Pines (10 p.m. – 1 a.m.). Participating fans are encouraged to come to the tournament outfitted in Ducks colors and gear. Along with $10,000 in cash prizes, five runners-up will receive an autographed Anaheim Ducks or Los Angeles Kings jersey.
“Coming off such a successful rivalry tournament last year, there was no question of hosting again,” said Steve Lengel, Executive Director of Operations for San Manuel. “Fans helped to raise over $23,000, and we expect another night of great charitable giving with these two organizations.”
Online registration for the second annual Rivalry Hold’em Poker Challenge will take place until Tuesday, Feb. 28 (11 p.m.) at AnaheimDucks.com/poker. Walk-up registration will take place at San Manuel beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (based on availability until the tournament begins in the Yuhaviatam room). Please note that all participants must be at least 21 years of age. The tournament’s website (AnaheimDucks.com/poker) also includes information on hotel room specials courtesy of the Hampton Inn & Suites.
The tournament is part of the long-standing partnership between San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino and the Anaheim Ducks.
