Ducks defenseman Luca Sbisa sprained his ankle in Monday's preseason opener against Phoenix and will be out two weeks from the time of the injury.
Sbisa played 18 minutes and had a team-leading five hits in the game.
The 23-year-old Sbisa, entering his sixth NHL season, had eight points in 41 games for Anaheim last season with an even plus-minus rating.
"Coaches panic, but it’s a mild sprain," said Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. "We don’t want that thing to linger on. It’s a long year, and if you come back too soon, it can hurt you. We’re probably giving him an extra week off than he needs, but we want to make sure he’s ready for October 2."
