Sabres Down Ducks in OT, 3-2

Maxim Afinogenov scored on the powerplay, 2:11 into overtime, as the Sabres defeated the Ducks, 3-2, on Thursday night at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo.  Chris Kunitz and Joffrey Lupul tallied for Anaheim in the contest.

The Ducks are coming off of a 6-2 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night at the Arrowhead Pond.  The loss was the Ducks' first in four games.  Rob Niedermayer picked up his sixth goal of the season in the contest and Anaheim rookie forward Dustin Penner got the first goal of his NHL career.

Anaheim is 12-12-2 and currently resides in fourth place in the NHL's Pacific Division.

The Sabres were 6-4 winners on the road in Colorado on Sunday night.  With the victory, Buffalo notched their sixth-straight road victory.

Centers Tim Connolly (7-15=22) and Daniel Briere (12-8=20) lead the Sabres offensively.  Right wing Ales Kotalik leads Buffalo in goals with 13 (13-5=18).

The Sabres are 17-10-1 on the season and in third place in the Northeast Division.  Buffalo is 8-1-1 in their last ten games. 

After today's contest, the Ducks will face Montreal at the Bell Centre on Saturday at 4 PM and Toronto on Monday at 4:30 PM at the Air Canada Centre.  Anaheim returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 14 to face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
