Quotes from Saturday's Practice

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks caught up with Emerson Etem, Hampus Lindholm, Ryan Getzlaf and head coach Bruce Boudreau on Saturday afternoon to discuss the team's winning streak, resiliency, and tomorrow's opponent, the Dallas Stars.

On the team’s resiliency
I thought we came out a little slow in the Calgary, and maybe even a little last night, but it just shows our resilience and our willingness to come back and do whatever it takes to win.

On tomorrow’s matchup against Dallas
Dallas is a great team. We just need to get a lot of shots and play a simple game. Make sure we don’t turn it over at both lines and just play a simple game.

On what it’s going to take to close the homestand out with a win

It’s going to take hard work and determination from all the guys in the locker room to grind it out. Just get pucks on net and hopefully score one on the power play, too.

On the fan support during the homestand
It’s like having a sixth player out there. It’s good to have them. It was really good there in the end, and they really cheered us up. Great fans.

On the team’s resiliency

We’ve just got to continue on this path and find ways to win. We want to get better as a team. Our last couple of games haven’t been that great. We haven’t played up to our potential. The Calgary game we played hard, and against Phoenix, they’re a good hockey team. It’s just a matter of getting better and finding ways to win games. You’ve got to win in all different ways in this league. You never can continue along the same scoring trend we had. You’ve got to win the tight ones, too.

On the Dallas Stars
Dallas is a good hockey team. We’re going to have to pay attention to their top line, and try and keep Jamie Benn and those guys off the score sheet. If we do, we have a good chance to win.

On the Dallas Stars

I think they got markedly better. [Tyler] Seguin looks like he’s playing really well. Alex Chiasson, who we saw last year at the end, scored two goals and then got hurt in the same game against us. He’s averaging a point per game. I always thought Jamie Benn was one of the best players in the league. They pose a lot of problems. We thought [Brenden] Dillon last year, for a rookie, really came on. And, you add their usual list of suspects on defense like [Stephane] Robidas and company, and [Trevor] Daley, and they’re a pretty good team. Anybody that overlooks Dallas is a nut.

On the status of Viktor Fasth
He’s still day-to-day. He wasn’t on the ice, but he was working out and stretching. He’s feeling a lot better today than he did yesterday, but what the means I don’t really know. I don’t think he’s available tomorrow.
