Getzlaf is not expected to play Wednesday while he continues his recovery from a lower-body injury. The 36-year-old center has 31 points in 49 games this season.
The Ducks hope to get All-Star winger Troy Terry back in the lineup though after his injury Saturday night in Arizona. Terry, who leads Anaheim in scoring and goals, skated with the team yesterday but his status for returning to game action remains unclear.
The Ducks have earned three of six possible standings points against Calgary thus far, including an OT victory at Scotiabank Sattledome in the initial weeks of the season. The Flames won the previous meeting at Honda Center in a shootout after the Ducks had tied the game in the third period.
Calgary (41-19-9) still sits atop the Pacific Division and will soon clinch its third playoff appearance in the last four seasons. The Flames began their four-game west coast road trip with a critical 3-2 triumph Monday over the second-place Kings, extending their division lead to four points.
"It starts the trip," Flames head coach and former Ducks coaching advisor Darryl Sutter told reporters postgame. "We've talked about it enough the last couple of days about it getting a little stale at home and starting a trip. Doesn't matter who the opponent is, getting off on the right foot - and you're playing four in six, too, so you want to get off on the right foot."
Leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau notched two goals and an assist and is now just five points from becoming the first Flame to score 100 in a season in nearly 30 years (Theo Fleury, 100 in 1992-93).
"Johnny was on fire [Monday]," Sutter said. "He was awesome. He's been really good lately and hopefully that will get the line going again."
Gaudreau has six points in three games against Anaheim this season.
