Preview: Ducks Host Coyotes Tonight in Preseason Home Opener

by Kyle Shohara @kyleshohara /

The Ducks' preseason schedule continues tonight as they host the visiting Arizona Coyotes at Honda Center. This caps off a back-to-back set that began last night with a 5-0 shutout loss to the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center. Tonight's game is radio only and can be heard on XEPRS 1090 AM or by clicking the link below once 7 p.m. rolls around.

With a full contingent on players still on Anaheim's training camp roster (62, to be exact), expect tonight's lineup to feature a handful of experienced players in addition to newcomers. Last night the Ducks went with a mostly inexperienced lineup against the Sharks, who had a few veterans mixed in as well.

Though tonight marks the preseason opener for the Coyotes, this wasn't supposed to be the case. Originally, the Coyotes were scheduled to host the LA Kings at Gila River Arena on Monday, but the game was cancelled due to poor ice conditions following a concert two days prior. The game was not rescheduled. The Ducks and Coyotes will meet once more in preseason action next Monday at Tucson Arena in Tucson, Arizona.

The Coyotes are still carrying 48 players on their training camp roster (including recent acquisition Jason Demers), so it remains to be seen who makes the trip to Honda Center. This will mark the preseason head-coaching debut for Coyotes bench boss Rick Tocchet, hired on July 11 after a three-year stint as assistant coach with the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

Rosters and line combinations will be posted as the day goes on, so check back with for full details.
