by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

POSTGAME QUOTES
Los Angeles 1 vs. Anaheim 2 (OT)
Sept. 29, 2015
Staples Center
3-0-1, 7 pts.

ANAHEIM DUCKS

Anton Khudobin

On his two starts
The first start, I was a little nervous because I hadn’t played in a while. But I got my game back, and felt fine. Tonight was even better. I try to battle. You have to battle in the net because they try to push you and the puck in the net. This is just my style of game.

On his first-period save on Toffoli

I saw the puck and saw him coming. I was expecting a shot, but [Dwight King] made a backdoor pass. I just jumped and made the save.

Corey Perry

On the 3-on-3 overtime format
It all starts at the faceoff. You have to win the faceoff to start overtime, and then you have control. We had the puck for a while before it went in. If you can control the puck, not make high-risk plays, and make simple plays, you’re going to find time. Guys are going to get lost. It’s going to be interesting to watch.

On capitalizing on scoring chances in overtime
If you miss the net, you pretty much put all your eggs in one basket. It’s just the little things. We talk about not giving the puck away, holding onto it, and if we don’t have anything, go back with it and start all over again. It’s going to be trial and error.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau

On Khudobin’s performance
He can’t do better than that. He’s made some ten-bell saves. In the first period, he made that backdoor save; the anticipation. Competition is a great thing. You can tell he wants to be the No. 1 guy, and he’s going out there and showing how good he is.

On the overtime

I thought Rickard Rakell had great vision because he saw the play before he went in, so he could spin. He knew where Corey [Perry] was. If you go get the puck and then start looking for a play, you don’t make it. That’s a really skilled play. I thought [Rakell] was our best player tonight. He’s being consistent and playing strong.

LA KINGS

Jhonas Enroth

On the game
There were a good amount of shots and a couple of good chances at both ends. Both goalies made a couple of good saves. It was definitely a nice game for the goalies.

Kyle Clifford

On his goal
I saw Andy [Andreoff] skating up the ice and I have to give him the credit. That goal was all him. He made a good play and I just went to the net.”

Kings head coach Darryl Sutter
On assessing the team
We try to win every game, but we were struggling to score a little bit. We’re trying to get everybody to be ready for the first game. It’s still very competitive to see who is going to play in that first game.

On the 3-on-3 overtime format
It [3-on-3] should eliminate, based on what we’ve seen in the American League, it will eliminate a percentage of them [shootouts]. Obviously it’s still preseason, so teams are going to generally have three top players out there.
