Postgame Quotes: October 14 at Philadelphia

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

Postgame quotes following Anaheim's 4-3 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Oct. 14, 2014

Frederik Andersen

On the shootout
They didn’t really do too many dekes. William [Karlsson] had a nice shot there, so I’m happy to get the win.

On persevering in the second of back-to-backs
We took too many penalties and gave the puck away a little bit too much, but we came out with the two points. You have to be happy about that.

William Karlsson
On the emotions during tonight’s game
For me, it was nice to finish the game off in a shootout. It’s not two goals, but it’s nice to win the game. I want to play as much as possible. To be on the ice in overtime helps your confidence.

On his shootout goal
I didn’t really think. I knew I was going to shoot, so I was just trying to find the open net. Luckily it went in.

On Friday’s home opener
I can’t wait. It’s going to be a good feeling to enter the ice at Honda Center. I’m really looking forward to it.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On winning three straight
It feels good. Yesterday’s game was way more complete than tonight’s game, but sometimes it’s a good lesson when you scramble to hold the lead and you play on your heels. You learn from it, and the next game you’re better at it. We came away successful, so it made it better.

On if fatigue played a factor
I think more penalties [played a factor]. They got a 5-on-3, and then they got another power-play goal. That’s where fatigue was coming in. I was trying to match [lines] a little bit, and some of our guys were playing a little too much, I thought, so fatigue set in. That was my fault. Overall, when we started rolling four lines, we were doing ok.

On Beleskey’s late second period goal

It was a big goal because they had everything going their way. It was an incredible pass by Ryan Getzlaf, but [Beleskey] makes a great play out of it. We go into the third period with a lead. I always like to think that our record is pretty good with a lead in the third period.

On the decision to use Karlsson in the shootout
It’s funny. We used three righties and I was looking for a lefty. William has hit the post coming from that side a couple of times, so he was due to put one in. He made a great shot and scored the goal.

On Andersen’s performance
Freddie was great all night long. He came up with big saves at opportune times. It’s a back-to-back for him. He’ll earn his day off tomorrow.

On Friday’s home opener
It’s been a long time since we played in front of a full house at home, time-wise, not game-wise. We’re looking forward to it.
