Ryan Kesler
On tonight’s game
I’m not big on shootouts. Obviously, they’re important points. I thought we fought hard, but it’s another shootout loss. Both teams competed hard. It was a fun game to play in. We have a lot of young guys who are filling in. They’re missing guys, too. It’s two of the top two teams in the league who are banged up. I thought we both competed hard.

On facing his former team
It was exciting. I haven’t seen them since last year. It was fun. I’m an intense guy and I’m a competitor. I was trying my hardest out there.

Andrew Cogliano
On tonight’s game

We’re missing three guys, but they outplayed us. It didn’t have to do with anyone missing. They just outworked us, especially in the second and third. I thought we played better in overtime.

On losing in shootouts
I felt like we should’ve won the last game. At the end of the day, shootouts are shootouts. You feel a lot different when you win them, and you feel a lot different when you lose them. The game was in our hands coming out of the first period, and we ended up giving them a lot of momentum in the second and third periods.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s game

It’s frustrating. We got outplayed the last two periods. When you get that close, you want the two points. It doesn’t feel anywhere near as good as if we won the shootout.

On hitting two posts in the shootout
That’s just the way our goal scoring is going. We’re missing by a tad here and a tad there. It wasn’t like they nicked the goal posts; they hit them dead on. Those are the breaks of the game.

Nick Bonino

On his shootout goal
I tried to put it in the back of the net. He’s a good goalie and he’s patient. He’s seen a lot of my moves and I wanted to fake a couple of ways and see if I could sneak it in. It snuck right under.

On the game
They come at you hard. To beat them you have to play in their end, you can’t let them come at you. We were solid tonight. I thought we played almost the full 60. We had a lot of shots, a lot of chances. It was a good game.

Alexandre Burrows
On his goal
We kept it simple. Dan (Hamhuis) made a great shot towards the net and I was lucky enough to skate by and get a stick on it and find a way to get in. I thought we played much better tonight.

On the team’s effort

We weren’t really happy with the last few games, that’s for sure. We knew we had to be much better, especially against a good team like the Ducks. We were much better. We found a way to get it done in a tough building against a really good team.

Head Coach Willie Desjardins
On the game
I thought they played really well tonight. That’s a real tough team. They’re a real heavy team. Physically, we took a lot of heavy hits early. Our guys wanted to play better. They weren’t happy with their last two performances and they wanted to have a better game tonight. They played hard.

On Eddie Lack
Eddie’s a good goaltender. He was so good in preseason and it was too bad for him the way he started. I knew we would need him tonight and he played great. It was great for him to get the win.
