ANAHEIM DUCKS

Jason LaBarbera

On tonight’s game
That was a three-in-three for me. I’m pretty tired, but what an effort by the guys. I haven’t been around the team much, but that was a pretty impressive effort by everybody. I’ve been in a lot of tough situations in my career, but that was probably the hardest one I’ve been in.

On his eventful day
I was up at 4:30 this morning Eastern Time, flew across the country, and ended up playing tonight. You never know what to expect. The guys were unreal in front of me.

On team defense
This is a really good cycle team, and we controlled the puck for most of the game. Our defense did a great job blocking shots, clearing pucks and that type of stuff. It was a great effort.

Ryan Getzlaf
On LaBarbera’s performance
“Barbs” came in on a plane today. He did a great job, ate a lot of pucks and slowed the game down for us.

On the top line getting on the scoresheet
We haven’t exactly lit the lamp the past four games, so it was nice to get back on the scoresheet and do what we need to do.

On team defense
We paid attention to the defensive side of the puck during the entire trip. Other than that hiccup in St. Louis, this was a great trip for our group.

Cam Fowler
On tonight's win
It was a good effort by everybody. I’m really proud of our group and how we responded and this was a tough road trip for us, but we’re happy with the result.

On keeping down the shots against
That’s just the identity we want to have as a team and when we’re doing that I think we’re up there with one of the hardest teams to play against in the league. We’ve shown that when we can do it. It has given us success and we’re just looking for that consistency right now. I think our first period wasn’t as good as we would’ve liked it to be so we came out and we responded with a good second period and that helped us win the game.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s game
We have a good bunch of guys, and they buckled down. We were lucky a little bit that the Avs played last night. They probably didn’t have the energy to really push like they would normally do at home. We stood tall, especially going down 2-1. That’s a good offensive team to stifle.

On the defense producing offense
This was a really good game, and one we’ll look back at. Fowler’s goal was perfect in terms of pressure and changing at the right time. We’ll have a lot of video from this game to show in a positive light.

On earning six of eight points on the road
We’re feeling good. The season is long, so you want to be happy that you won but you don’t want to make a big deal of it.

COLORADO AVALANCHE

Dennis Everberg

On the team's performance
I mean, first period was good I think. Second period was terrible and I think we had like one shot on net and that’s not okay. We let up two goals to them in the second period and I think we [played] loose in the second period. They played good and we didn’t get to the net like we were supposed to do.

On his first NHL goal
Well, obviously it was a relief and a good feeling to get it and something I’ve been waiting on. I’ve had a lot of chances and it’s a good feeling, but too bad it ended up in a loss anyway.

John Mitchell
On the team's second period
We have to figure it out obviously. We can’t have a second period that’s just a lull like that. We just need to work hard, chip those pucks in, you know, get a big hit, a big blocked shot, something to get us going. When they are just kind of in our zone and cycling around and around, I mean, maybe they are not getting a lot of quality scoring chances, but that’s going to really wear down our D, even the forwards that are out there. It’s going to take a lot out of them so playing in their end, that’s what we want to do to them. You know, cycle the puck, have a lot of possession time down there.

On what the team needs to do to improve

We were just a step behind getting to them on the forecheck. When you give a team like that an extra step, an extra second, they are going to be able to make a play and get out of their zone relatively quickly. You want to get good dumps into their zone, you want to get that first guy in there quick, obviously. [In the] second period for some reason, we just didn’t have it.
