Postgame Quotes: Nov. 16 at Carolina

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

Carolina 1  vs. Anaheim 4
Nov. 16, 2015
PNC Arena
6-8-4, 16 Standings Points

Carl Hagelin

On the game
It’s the best third period we’ve had. Being up a goal, we just kept pushing. We were able to not give up too much. We still have some work to do in the second period.

On his three-point performance
It was a good game. Any time you can help the team offensively, it’s a good feeling. Cogs [Andrew Cogliano] and Horks [Shawn Horcoff] really helped me out tonight. We played a North-South style, and that really fits my game.

On playing in Nashville tomorrow night

This gave us some confidence. A lot of lines were feeling good about themselves, especially defensively. That’s what you need to do when you play a good team like Nashville.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the team’s performance
Even though there were pockets where we didn’t do much, when push came to shove, we were pretty good defensively. [Anton] Khudobin was there when we needed him.

On the Cogliano-Horcoff-Hagelin line

They used their speed. I thought all three of them were instrumental in the win. Every time Carolina had pressure on us in our zone, that line would go out there and retake the momentum back for us. That was a big thing. When you play like that, you get rewarded. Carl gets a goal and two assists. It was a good reward for them.

On Vatanen’s goal in the second period to regain the lead
We got some confidence. We got the goal and got the lead. It was good in that respect.

On Getzlaf getting his first goal of the season
The guys all knew. They were joking, saying Nobody congratulate him, just turn your backs on him. All three of those guys out there for the empty-netter sure could’ve used one. Kes [Ryan Kesler] made a great unselfish play. It looks good on Ryan to break that goose egg.

On the quick turnaround
We’ll just get on the plane, get some rest and go into that game with a little more confidence.

Noah Hanifin

On his first career NHL goal
It’s tough when something like that happens and you don’t get the win because that’s the main concern. It was nice to get it. I’ll remember that forever. It was a nice pass by Nordy [Joakim Nordstrom], but it’s tough having that happen and not getting the win.

Eddie Lack

On the recent struggles of the team
You look at their first and third goals, and when you’re feeling it, those are the kind of shots that are bouncing your way. It’s not doing that right now. I just need to keep working hard. It’ll turn around eventually.

Head Coach Bill Peters
On Hanifin’s first NHL goal
It’ll take the weight of the world off his shoulders. For these young guys, it’s a first for everything: First time going out West, first time at MSG [Madison Square Garden], first time at Joe Louis Arena. He’s getting all these things knocked off the list. I thought he played well out there tonight. He looked like he was more comfortable with the puck.
