ANAHEIM DUCKS

Cam Fowler

On the game
Any time you lose by three in your building, it’s never a fun feeling. We weren’t even really satisfied with the couple of points we’ve gotten in the last couple of games. It’s a disappointing feeling. Not much to be explained. We just gave up too many opportunities against a good team. We just have to come back to the rink tomorrow ready to work and try to figure this out.

Ryan Kesler
On tonight’s loss
You have to take care of your own building, and we didn’t. It’s a new day tomorrow and we have to come in positive.

On the team
It all comes back to the mindset. The whole group has to have fun and get back to winning. Even when they scored early, I thought our guys battled back. It’s a mindset and we have to get back to having fun.

Anton Khudobin

On the game
We couldn’t find a way to get the goals, but we tried hard. They tried to block everything. It was that type of game. You’re trying to do something, but [our shots] just went wide, hit the shins or hit the sticks. It didn’t go for us tonight.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On Khudobin’s performance
When he killed the 5-on-3, I thought we were going to get going. When he gets hot, as we’ve seen a couple of times, he’s been very good. Two empty-net goals in the third period; there’s nothing he could do about that. I thought he played stellar.

On the homestand finale
To get back on the road or home, we just have to put wins together. It’s as simple as ABC. Where the places we play won’t be the factor.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

Cal Clutterbuck

On his team’s efforts to be more consistent
I think the important thing for us is we’re obviously trying to build towards playing that type of game consistently. I think that’s what we did last year and that’s what we’re trying to do this year. It’s taken us a little bit longer, but I think these last three games have been a pretty good indication. Even the second half of the game at home against Boston was a good indication that we’re starting to find it.

On the two 5-on-3 power plays in the game
It would have been nice to score, for sure. The thing about 5-on-3s like that is a lot of times when you have long 5-on-3s and you don’t score, you end up losing the game. When they got their 5-on-3, they kind of got a lucky goal. They obviously won that battle 1-0, but I think we did a great job of just sticking with them.

Anders Lee
On the importance of this win
It was huge. To not get a couple of points against LA, since we played a pretty decent game was a little bit frustrating. But I felt we bounced back really nice here on a back-to-back.

Head Coach Jack Capuano
On staying confident after failing to score on a 5-on-3
We stayed with it. I thought we were resilient tonight. They made a push, but I thought our defense really played well tonight. They come really hard on their forecheck and I thought we were able to exit the zones pretty well tonight on our breakouts.

On gaining momentum through power plays
We’ve struggled, but tonight we did have some chances. When you move it around and you get chances - and (Khudobin) made a couple of big saves - at least it gives your team a little bit of a surge versus killing the momentum. In that area it helped.
