On tonight’s game
That’s a very good team over there. I thought both teams played really good hockey. They wanted to get into a transition game, and we wanted to play a physical game down low. It went in waves where they carried the play and we carried the play.
On the past two games
Our last two games were very different. The Montreal game, we probably didn’t deserve. They took it to us and we weren’t ready right away. Tonight, both teams were ready from the get-go, and they were able to come out with a win.
On tonight’s game
We started off well and had a couple good shifts in their end. A couple bounces didn’t go our way. Perry had two nice goals and Getzy [Ryan Getzlaf] set him up nicely. It just wasn’t enough. It’s another shootout loss. It’s tough not to get that extra point, but we held a pretty good offense to not too many shots. It was a good effort on our part.
On measuring up against the best team in the Eastern Conference
I thought we played pretty well. There were a couple opportunities we had that might’ve been able to put the game away. Hillsy [Jonas Hiller] played a great game. When he was tested, he came up big for us. Overall, it was a good test for us, but falling in a shootout is disappointing.

On tonight’s game
I thought we played a great game. Take away their power play, and I think they had 10 or 11 shots, which is great. We followed our game plan to a tee. We just lost in a shootout.
On holding Sidney Crosby to one shot on goal
We had Saku’s line and Corey’s line playing against Malkin and Crosby all night long. They did a really good job of not only holding their own, but they had great chances as well.
On tonight's game
I think for the most part, the past two nights we played pretty well. Tonight our start was a little slow and last night our finish was a little slow. We managed to find a way and battled. Fleury made some big saves for us. Anytime you get a shootout win, you have to tip your hat to him. It’s a great win for us and we have a couple days now and another back-to-back coming up. Busy schedule but we have to stay ready and stay sharp.
On Fleury's performance
He was great. Made some big saves when he had to. Even in the first, he made a couple. They were coming at us pretty good at the start. I think he definitely held us in there for a while and to get those big saves down the stretch definitely held us in the game. You get a big goal from Evgeni to tie it up and, like I said, you get a shootout win and a lot of credit goes to your goaltender.
It was huge. The first two periods weren’t great. Definitely in those first two, he held us in it. In the third, I thought we went after it more. But he really had to make some saves, pretty consistently, for the first two periods to keep us in it and allow us to get ourselves back in the game.
On tonight's win
It’s good. We’re trying to evaluate ourselves based on how we’re playing, not always the result. You’re going in to win but you also want to do things right. With that said, I think we did some good things here. Some things better than we might have done last night in the second half of the game. We didn’t make those big mistakes that maybe hurt us last night.
Head coach Dan Bylsma
He was in the first half of that game. You can see that the shot total favored them heavily for the first half of the game. They had probably five great opportunities, even the one they scored on in the first period. He was outstanding all game long. It is only fitting that in the end he gets the win in a shootout.
On the difference between second and third periods
I don’t know if there was a switch between the second and the third as much as the second half of the game, the last 30 minutes or so. Clearly the first half of the game they had their opportunities. They had chances that they’re good at, which is on the rush. We got back into the game and we’ve talked about playing that tight game, a 1-1 type of game, a 0-0 type of game and that’s what we got ourselves back into. I really liked the response.
