Postgame Quotes: March 28 at Edmonton

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

Edmonton 1 vs. Anaheim 2
March 28, 2016
Rexall Place
42-23-10, 94 Standings Points

John Gibson

On the final minutes of regulation
We knew they were going to come. I thought we played good defense, and kept them to the outside. We shut them down pretty good. Our defense does a good job limiting second chances. If I make the first save, they get the second one out of there for me.

On concluding the road trip with a 3-1-1 mark
We want to play the right way and build momentum so we’re ready for the playoffs. This road trip was a good stepping stone. Hopefully, we can keep it going.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the win
I thought we were resilient, but were pretty sloppy tonight, and we looked a little tired. It was a good win for us at the end of the road trip – allowing only one goal – but they missed some great opportunities. Gibson was the difference in the game.

On the strength in goal

Either one that’s in has won us games. With the game in Ottawa, Freddie [Andersen] stopped a penalty shot, and then a breakaway in overtime. [Gibson] made some 10-bell saves, especially when we needed them to be made.

On Brandon Pirri’s production
He made some good plays. The thing I like about him is he knocked one of their guys off the puck and scored the goal. That’s what we’re going to need when playoff time comes.

On the 3-1-1 road trip

If you look at our goals against [per game], which, to me, is a defining thing for us, we went 4-6-3-1 in our last four games. We’re getting down to where we were doing it 15, 20 games ago.
