Ryan Getzlaf

On tonight’s game
We made some mental errors tonight throughout the whole game. They executed their game plan and we didn’t. They came out, they skated and moved the puck around like they do, and for a lot of the game, I thought we were watching and reacting to them instead of doing our thing.

On losing back-to-backs against the Sharks and Blackhawks
You’re talking about two great teams that we’ll have to go through in order to win a Stanley Cup. We’ll take this on ourselves, move forward and get ready for the next one.

On losing back-to-backs against the Sharks and Blackhawks
Both those teams forced us to play their style of hockey. We can’t do that against teams like that. It can be a good lesson for us if we learn from it. We need to be better.

On tonight’s game
It all came down to puck management. We tried to force far too many things through the neutral. We tried to make far too many plays rather than playing a simple style. Chicago thrives off of fancy, quick-strike offense. That’s not how we’re successful.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s game
You can tell how far you have to go to be the best. You can be in first place, but they turned it up and we weren’t able to handle it. As a measuring stick, I hope this stays in our minds for a long time.

On the Blackhawks
They were a lot better than us. Let’s face it – they can make you look bad when they’re playing like that. They played great. We couldn’t deal with them.

On the game
It was a good start. I think it was a good team effort all the way through. We did a lot of good things. Special teams were good and five-on-five we played a real sound game.

On the effort
All of our lines were good tonight. I thought [Kruger’s] line was solid making smart plays with the puck. Every line had some chances. [Kane] was great tonight as well. All of the defensemen were moving the puck well, the way we talk about. It was a good win to get this road trip going. We weren’t happy with the way the last game ended and we had a good game tonight, and will try to carry it over to tomorrow night.

Patrick Kane

On his play lately
It’s just trying to not worry about what month it is or what game it is. I’m just going in with a clear mindset and trying to produce every night and create some scoring chances. I think I’m playing with some really good players this year. It seems like I’ve had a lot of chances where I’m in the right place at the right time. Guys are finding me so it’s fun.

On the game giving the team confidence
Big win. Big win for sure against a great team. They’re the best team in the NHL this year and we know they’re coming off a back-to-back game and three in four nights so it was important for us to come out and have a good effort. I thought we started the right way and it was nice getting an early goal. Like I said, we played a perfect road game. It was a fun game.

Head Coach Joel Quenneville
On Kane
I think that’s the way he’s been playing all year, but he seems to be getting better every night. I think he’s around the puck and he’s coming up with pucks out of tight areas. He had a great shot. Sharp was excellent tonight as well. That line had a big night for us. It was fun watching that line play.

On the game
[Patrick Sharp] made some great plays. He was in tight areas, came out with the puck in tight areas. He had a nice feed to Kane on the first goal. He had some feeds all night to that line. [Kane] had some finish as well. I thought that fourth goal was a big goal for us.
