Corey Perry

On the game
Things didn’t go in during the first period, and we kind of got away from our game plan. We stopped playing the way we normally do, or have done in the last little bit. It’s all about sticking with the process and game plan. It works, but when you get away from it, it doesn’t.

On their defense activating
Their defense is mobile and can move the puck. They hit some late guys coming in and converted. Those are things we talk about and have to get back to, like tight-checking in the neutral zone and not letting them get speed. We need to hold them off.

Shawn Horcoff
On Anaheim’s start to game
I thought we started well. We got some pucks to the net. They did a good job of protecting that area. They got a lucky bounce on the first one and we didn’t respond to it.

On moving on
For some reason, we got away from it. We’ll come back to work tomorrow and be ready. That’s not how we play in order to be successful. We’ve played a good defensively structured game. Defense first, and everything else comes from that. Tonight, we deviated from that.

Josh Manson

On defensive lapses
That’s been a strong point of our game, but we didn’t have it tonight. We weren’t breaking out clean. They played well. We’ll practice tomorrow and build on it.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On Anaheim’s execution and discipline
We weren’t able to make simple plays. They’re good at agitating and getting under the skin. We didn’t have the composure we needed.

On the second period
They didn’t play that good to be up, 1-0, but they came out and hemmed us in for the first three or four minutes, got the momentum, and once they scored that second goal, you could see the air come out of the sails.

Jonathan Bernier

On his biggest challenge against Anaheim
Their power play. They were moving the puck pretty good on the power play. They got a lot of scoring chances. I thought our start of the second was really good, especially the first 10 minutes in the second. We knew they’re a team that comes out really hard in the first and we just wanted to weather the storm.

On his team avoiding screens and traffic in front of the net
I can’t say it enough, but guys are doing a great job boxing out when pucks go to the point and it allows me to get to my spots and see pucks.

Dion Phaneuf
On the win
I thought that we came in with a plan and we executed it. There’s some consistent play from our group that just seemed to wear on theirs and we came in with a plan in place and we played it to a ‘T.’

On his goaltender’s performance
Bernie was the difference for sure. He made some big saves. I think the one in the second period, the guy walks in right in the slot, great glove save. That’s one that just sticks out.

Head Coach Mike Babcock
On responding to Anaheim’s first period
Bernie was real good. I thought we really took over in the second. Bernie got us through the first and we just went from there. It was a good win for our team to start the road trip and obviously we’ve got a tough back-to-back here with L.A. waiting for us tomorrow.

On the importance of a strong performance from his goaltender
That’s what you pay him for, right? It was good for us. He’s got his confidence back. He’s playing out of the net, he’s doing things right, feels good about himself and gives our team confidence.
