Ryan Getzlaf

On Detroit’s game-winning goal
The puck got away from me a little bit. I need to make a better play, simple as that. I thought [Riley Sheahan] was coming on this side, so I tried to protect it a bit. When I did, it got away from me and ended up in the back of the net.

On the positives
We responded well. We stayed in the game. They scored a goal and we didn’t sulk. We just played the game, came back and got another goal. We were right back in the game. I thought we played pretty well throughout the whole thing.

Kevin Bieksa
On the game
We played a really good game. It was a pretty even game that went back and forth. At the end of the day, we only put one in the net. On most nights, that’s not going to be good enough.

On the mindset of the team
We’re resilient and strong mentally. We’ve been through a lot already. We’ve taken our lumps and bounced back. We’ve been determined. We’re OK mentally. We’ve had some tough losses this year, and this is one of them. We played good and lost in the last couple minutes of the game. We’re a strong team with good leadership. We’ll bounce back. We have four more games on this homestand. We’ll take care of business.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the game
I thought we played a heck of a game against a good hockey club. It’s unfortunate the way it ended, but I give my guys credit for skating with them and getting the better chances. We haven’t been finishing. It’s been like that all season long.

On sticking with the game plan

We stuck with the game plan. We made a mistake and it cost us. These guys did the exact same thing to San Jose the other night. They make one mistake in the third period, they jump on it, they score the goal and the game is over.

Riley Sheahan

On his game-winning goal
It just came on a broken play. We had a chance to get some possession in the O-Zone and [Dylan Larkin] made a great pass. I don’t think the goalie was really ready for it, so he hit my stick. I tried to get it off as quick as possible and luckily it went in.

On his team’s four-game road win streak
It’s huge. When you can get wins like this in close games, we work really hard to get them. It’s huge for us, that builds your confidence.

Petr Mrazek
On the win
It’s a big win for us. We scored early. We didn’t give them many chances in the first 12 minutes. But you could see after when they scored a goal, they came hard. The game was 50/50.

On not facing many shots early in the game
It’s always hard. Twelve minutes I didn’t have many chances. There was one breakaway that missed the net then just Getzlaf shot from the blue line and hit my blocker that was my first save of the game. It’s always hard, but you have to battle and work harder.

Head Coach Jeff Blashill
On the performance of his goalie
I thought Petr was good again tonight. When we gave up chances, he made big saves and that’s what he’s done. He’s done that over this stretch of games for sure.

On the game
I thought it was an unreal hockey game. Both teams pushed back and forth. We obviously started great and they scored and they got the momentum in the rest of the first. I thought it ebbed and flowed and had great chances both ways. I thought both goalies were really good and certainly Petr was a big factor in the win.
