Series: 4-3 Nashville

ANAHEIM DUCKS

Ryan Getzlaf

On the start of the game
We were playing catch-up the whole game, the whole series and all year. It came back to bite us here at the end.

On losing Game 7 on home ice
There’s no explanation for it. They played better than us again tonight. It was a back-and-forth series where we put three games together where we played flawless. We didn’t put the next two together.

Corey Perry
On the loss
It’s tough. It wasn’t the way we wanted to start, but the second and third periods I thought we threw everything at them. A bounce here, a bounce there, and it can be a different story.

On Nashville’s goals
They get a bounce and a high tip. It’s tough. Hard to swallow right now.

Andrew Cogliano
On the game
There’s not much to say. I thought we did enough to win. I don’t think they outplayed us at all. They got two goals in the first period and they held on. Pekka [Rinne] played good, but other than that, I thought we did enough to win. We didn’t. That’s the story.

I thought we dominated them. I didn’t think they had any good looks, and we hit a couple posts. We had some power plays. This was probably one of our best games of the series, but it wasn’t meant to be. I don’t know what it is. I can’t explain it. We can’t get a bounce, it seems, to start off these games, and they end up killing us.

Cam Fowler

On losing Game 7 on home ice
It’s certainly not fun, and it’s not the title you want to have in this league. I’m trying not to look at it big-picture so much. Those years are behind us. We were focused on this year with a great group of guys. I just feel for them right now.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau

On the second and third periods
I thought it was the best two periods we’d played in the series. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good enough.

On if this loss hurts more than previous Game 7 losses
With the way the score was, and the way we were pushing, I’d say yes. Especially with how hard we had to push from November on just to get to where we were. We did everything the hard way. We thought, in the third period, we still believed we were going to tie it up. It just wasn’t meant to be.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS

Shea Weber

On preparing for the second round
We need to realize we’re moving on and we still have work after this.

On Pekka Rinne’s play
He’s making huge saves. He’s been solid. He’s made all the saves he needed to and didn’t get himself into too much trouble.

James Neal

On the Predators' play through the series
We need to get back to playing good hockey. We got too comfortable with our two-game lead going home and feeling good about ourselves, but we still haven’t played to our potential. We hit the reset button and got back to playing our hockey and got the big win at home like we needed. It came down to Game 7 and anything could’ve happened.

Colin Wilson
On his mindset going into playoffs
Try to win. Everyone wants to win the Cup. I reflected on the season I had and did everything I could to help the team win.

On the win
It’s nice to get to the Second Round. Our fans have been waiting for it and we want to keep moving on.

On his goal
Those flipped-up pucks are hard to control for the defensemen. Fish [Mike Fisher] was going and pushing them back. I was fortunate for it to come up on my stick.

Head Coach Peter Laviolette
On winning the series
It’s a big step. I feel that if you can’t take this one step, you can’t take any more steps. That makes it a really big win for our guys and for our team. When you’re faced with these situations, you’re either going home or going on and playing hockey to continue to fight for the Cup. It was a big night.

On Pekka Rinne
He was really good. If you think that you need four wins to get out, and if you think about the four wins, you could consider him one of the best players on the ice. He was outstanding. He looked solid to me. He looked from the start tonight that he was right on top of his game.
