POSTGAME QUOTES

Kyle Palmieri

On his overtime goal
I was just shooting at the net. Honestly, if it didn’t go under the crossbar, it would’ve been a faceoff outside because it was going way out. I got lucky and saw him cheating, so I just tried throwing it at the night.

On the resilience of the team
We went into the third period and kind of sat back a little and gave them a little momentum, but we’re a resilient team. We know, no matter what, even if they tie it up late, it’s going to be our game. We just have to go out there and take it.

On today’s game
I don’t think it was an overly chippy game. There were a couple of scrums after the whistle. They’re a team that competes. They’re a fast team and we both play a fast, high-intensity game. Luckily enough, we got the two points tonight.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On being the first team in the NHL to reach 40 points
It’s pretty nice. We didn’t have much left in the tank, and to still pull one out is pretty satisfying.

On Frederik Andersen’s performance
Freddie was great. They had 13 shots in the first eight minutes. He weathered that storm and we ended up getting the lead. That’s what he’s done. He’s played 15 [consecutive] games, and he’s missed a few, but for the most part he’s been there all the times we’ve needed him.

On the power play
We work on it and talk about it. [Assistant Coach] Brad Lauer does a yeoman’s job on doing this stuff. It’s nice to see Brad and the team getting rewarded on the power play.

On the team stepping up in Corey Perry’s absence
They did, but that’s what we want. That’s balanced scoring. If you look at the different lines that scored goals, that’s the way we’ve won in the past. We want that threat to be able to do that in the future.

On going into overtime 11 times this season
My wife keeps telling me, You can’t leave the TV because every game is a one-goal game. I can’t remember the last time we won a game by more than one goal. Certainly we’d like to have it happen soon, but as long as we’re the ones who end up on top, I guess everything is okay.
