Sami Vatanen

On the turning point in the first period
We just froze. We didn’t move our legs or do what we had to do. We came back a little bit in the third period, but this is hockey. You can’t win if you don’t score.

On the message heading into the second period

We could do much better than that. We played good for the first 10 minutes of the first period, and then, in the second period, I don’t know what happened. We just need to move our legs.

On mentally preparing for tomorrow’s game against the Rangers

That’s the good thing about hockey. A new chance comes really fast. We just need to forget this one and start to focus on tomorrow’s game.

Carl Hagelin
On being ready to play
We have the guys in the room [to change this]. All 20 guys need to come ready to play.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau

On inconsistency
To end this, we need consistency. We play a good game, then a bad game. We're not forming good habits on a continual basis. We had a lot of errors, and when we have them, they end up in our net.
