ANAHEIM DUCKS

Cam Fowler

On the flow of the game
It was one of those games with a lot of special teams early. For some guys who might not get a chance to [penalty] kill, it’s difficult for them. Our guys stuck with it. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but I liked our compete level and work ethic. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but we stuck with it. Their goaltender played well, and that was the difference in the game.

On hitting the post with under a minute to play
Those things happen. Some nights that might go in, but this night wasn’t one of those. We had our opportunities. Our penalty killers kept us in it. Our power play could’ve done a better job of creating some momentum for our team. That’s on me, as well. That’s something we can work on. A lot of good things, but there’s room for improvement as well.

Corey Perry
On establishing a rhythm

It’s tough when you take three or four penalties in the first period. We gave them a 5-on-3, but we did a great job killing those penalties. We created a little bit of momentum. There were a lot of good things that happened in that game, but we gave up two goals in the second period again. That’s tough.

On positives from a loss
We were right there with them. One bounce at the end of the game can be a different story.

Nate Thompson
On his return
It felt good. It was a weird game with a lot of special teams, so there wasn’t a lot of flow, 5-on-5. Overall, for me, it went all right. It would’ve been better if we won, but it is what it is.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the team’s effort
I thought the effort was fine. If you’re looking for a territorial edge, I thought we outplayed them. But in the end, we have to come up with a win. It seems to be eluding us on a regular basis. We can talk about how good we’re playing against good teams, and doing the right things, but the two points are most necessary at this point.

On the difference in the game
I thought we had a lot of shots and chances. We knew what they were going to do. In the end, we were 0-for-4 on the power play and they were 1-for-4. That’s the difference in the game.

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

Jonathan Drouin

On the game
It was a big win for us to start our road trip. To come back and score a goal on the power play and score a goal to win the game. PK was outstanding. Definitely a good first game.

On his conditioning after missing six games with an undisclosed injury
First period was a little heavy there. (I) started to sit on the bench and you’re looking out and you don’t want to go back on. But as the game went on I felt better and better.

Ben Bishop
On starting the road trip off with a win
It’s a good way to start. We had three tough games. To come out with two points here, it’s a good start. Obviously we’ve got two tough tests ahead, especially back-to-back. We’ll sit here and enjoy it a little bit, but then get ready for the next one.

On his key glove save
It’s just one of those reaction things where the size comes in handy every now and then.

Head Coach Jon Cooper
On the game
We were coming in here a .500 team. Especially dropping our last two, we thought we had a little momentum going. We’d won three in a row. With a trip like this, to get two points early, it sure gives us a little momentum.

On the play of Ben Bishop
You need your goaltender to be your best player and when he is, usually good things can happen. That’s what happened tonight.
