Postgame Quotes: Dec. 19 at New Jersey

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

New Jersey 1 vs. Anaheim 2
Dec. 19, 2015
Prudential Center
12-14-5, 29 Standings Points

Frederik Andersen
On his performance
I felt really good. [My teammates] played really good in the first period to help me get into the game.

On the game
We just grinded it out. We might not have had the best second period, but we came back and took it to them [in the third period]. We had the puck in their end and worked down low.

Ryan Kesler
On holding a one-goal lead late in regulation
We came out, had a strong start and hung on to it. Wasn’t our best two periods, but we got the job done. Freddie came in and didn’t miss a beat. Our defense was solid all night.

On the importance of the game
We knew these two points were huge. The next game, the points are huge again. We need to go into this break as close to a playoff spot as we can. After the break, we’re going to claw our way in.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the game
After they scored, we stayed within the game. We were a little panicky in the second and third periods, but I thought in the first period we came out and did what we wanted to do. It was a great goal – and important goal – by Kesler. We played pretty solid. We protected the middle of the ice. All in all, it was an important two points.

On Maroon’s performance

He was good. When he gets the puck below the circles, he’s solid. I thought that was Getzlaf’s best game in a while. He was a force; him and Kesler, and Corey [Perry].

On Andersen’s game
He made all the saves he had to make. He was good. I didn’t think he had to be spectacular. There were a couple good saves from them from close in, but he was steady. We had a lot of faith in him.
