Ryan Getzlaf
On the game
I felt like we played pretty close to where we need to be. They came at us pretty hard in the third period, but we were able to fend them off. They scored a goal, but we reacted the right way. I was pretty happy with what we were doing.

On the ability to defend a lead
In those last five minutes when you have that lead, you have to be able to hold it. You’re almost happy they scored a goal and really tested us at the end. It gets us ready for that next round.

On initial thoughts on the Winnipeg Jets

It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be a hard-fought series. It’s definitely going to be a man’s game, we know that. They’re a big, strong team built much like we are. We’re excited about that.

On the regular season
We talked about the ability to win one-goal games. That’s a big step for us. When you can win in those tight situations, you stay calm, you do the right things, those are big things for you going into the playoffs.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the game
It was a good test for us. Even though that team didn’t have much to play for, they wanted to play for their fans and win the last one. They made it pretty dicey at the end.

On team defense

After the first three minutes, they came out and we had a couple bounces over our sticks where there were almost odd-man rushes. But after that, I thought we were pretty solid defensively. There were a couple of shifts in the third where I thought we battled pretty hard man on man.

On knowing their first round opponent

Just that knowing thing is better than wondering. We know we have our hands full. They’re one of the hottest teams in the NHL outside of Ottawa. [Winnipeg] had the toughest schedule coming down the stretch, and excelled at it. It’s going to be a battle. It’s going to be a man’s series. They have a physical team. We can get physical if we need to be. It’s going to be a hard-nosed series.

On Frederik Andersen’s performance

He was excellent. He was calm, cool, had the puck on his stick and made plays. He was in control. I thought he did a great job.

On John Gibson’s status

He’s got an upper-body injury, but from what I gather, for next Wednesday or Thursday, it’s going to be close. It’s not going to be much longer, if it is. I just hope he’s ready for the playoffs.
