On the game
Our goaltender played unbelievable. At both ends of the rink these guys played great. There was world-class goaltending tonight. We were thankful to get that win.
On his overtime goal
I just knew there wasn’t much time left, so I just wanted to go on one last rush and get one on net. I ended up getting two cracks at it and managed to get it over the shoulder, and I kind of blacked out after that.
On when he got the call to start
After warmup they told me I should be ready. Couple minutes later, I’m right in the middle of it. It was almost nice to have the ceremony for Scotty, so I had a little extra time to focus and warm up.
On the goaltending duel
It was great to have some good stops early that gave me confidence. It was a pretty good goaltending battle tonight.
Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On coming out with a victory
I didn’t think anybody was going to score on those goalies. That was probably as good a goaltending display from both goaltenders I’ve seen in a very long time.
On Getzlaf delivering in the clutch
Getzy plays hard and he’s the leader. He logged a lot of minutes tonight. I think it was only rightful that him, or Cogliano, might score.
TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
On tonight’s game
I think the whole team played a good game. It was up and down. We had a lot of shots. Both of the goalies played very well. I think the goalies were the biggest key.
Yesterday we lost 5-1 and today we tried to focus on our defense and I think we did. We played well. Bishop was amazing today. He helped us a lot.
Head coach Jon Cooper
On tonight’s game
There are a lot of things to salvage out of this. Getting one point is better than getting none. A lot of good things happened tonight. We played extremely hard. We played our third of 4 nights against a conference leading team. It’s a game of bounces and they got the bounce off the skate at the blue line and they got the bounce at the end with 5 seconds left. They just got the last bounce.
Of course he’s pissed. We’re all pissed. You are five seconds away from a shootout. You can’t predict who is going to win a shootout. We didn’t get our chance. It's why the game is great. There are 10 seconds left in the game and one team is going on a rush one way and the puck ends up in the net the other way. What comes around goes around. At some point this season that bounce will go our way.
