by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

POSTGAME NOTES
Calgary 4 vs. Anaheim 6
Feb. 15, 2016
Scotiabank Saddledome
28-19-8, 64 Standings Points

The Ducks improved to 9-1-1 over their past 11 games, have earned standings points in 12 of their past 14 (11-2-1, 23 pts.) and gone 16-4-2 in the past 22 since the Christmas holiday break.

The Ducks equaled their season-high for goals in a game this season (also Jan. 26 at Boston, 6-2 W).

With his assist on Corey Perry's power-play marker at 2:15 of the second period, Ryan Getzlaf tied Paul Kariya (263) for second place on the club's all-time power-play points list.

Twelve different Ducks found the scoresheet, while three players finished with multi-point efforts (Fowler: 0-3--3, Perry: 1-1--2, Santorelli: 2-0--2).

Fowler (0-3--3) led all Ducks in scoring in the win, and now has five points (all assists) in his past two games.

Mike Santorelli (2-0--2) earned his first multi-goal game as a Duck and has four points in his past three games (3-1--4).

POSTGAME QUOTES

Mike Santorelli

On his two goals
[Nate] Thompson made a good play in front of the net and took the d-man with him. He forced a screen, too, and luckily the puck found its way through. On the second one, [Josh] Manson made a good play at the net. I was fortunate enough to get the rebound.

On the third period
Between periods we knew we needed to settle it down. We can’t have a track meet out there. We need to play the right way. When we play the right way, we’re successful. We came out in the third period and played that way.

On Frederik Andersen’s performance
He was great. He made a huge post-to-post save in the third period. That lifted us up, for sure. He closed it out.

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
On the game
It was a pretty sloppy game, especially in the first two periods. On the other hand, we kept coming back. We got some breaks. I know we allowed four goals, but I thought Freddie [Andersen] was really good out there. We played a sloppy game and weren’t anywhere near as good as we were against Chicago. I thought the [Sean] Monahan line was feeling it in the first two periods, so I’ll give them some credit. But in the third period, other than the one shift where Freddie made two great saves, I thought we played a really good third period.

On Santorelli’s production

He’s opportunistic. He has a touch around the net and has good hands. When he gets chances, he’s scoring goals.

On scoring six goals
It’s great to score goals and all, but we’re going to win by playing good defense. I thought we made some bad reads today, especially coming back into the zone. The gaps were way too big. It’s great to score goals – and have the ability to score goals – but we have to defend to win.

On the resiliency of the team
There was no panic when [Calgary] scored early or when they got the next one. Even after 3-2, I thought we were okay because we didn’t play very good in the first period and were only down one. That, to me, was a good thing.
