POSTGAME NOTES Edmonton 0 vs. Anaheim 1 Dec. 31, 2015 Rexall Place 15-15-6, 36 Standings Points
The Ducks have posted consecutive ROAD shutouts for the first time in club history (both by John Gibson). The last time the Ducks had consecutive shutouts anywhere (home or road) was Mar. 6 & 8, 2013 (vs. ARZ & CGY).
Both shutout wins have come by 1-0 scores (@ CGY on Tuesday & @ EDM tonight). The last NHL team to record consecutive 1-0 wins on the ROAD was Winnipeg on Nov. 1 & 2, 2014 (@ NYR & CHI). [Stat courtesy of the Elias Sports Bureau]
Gibson's shutout streak stands at 157:34 going back to Sunday's game vs. PHI.
John Gibson On his second consecutive shutout Total defensive effort again. Forwards blocking shots, defense blocking shots. Getting the pucks out. It makes my job easier. It’s a team effort right now. On his confidence When the team plays like that in front of you, it’s easier to have confidence. They keep the shots and chances down. I’m just trying to be there when they need me. On the importance of the victory We knew it was going to be a big road trip. It’s a good start, but we have one left. Hopefully we can finish it off.
Corey Perry On Gibson’s performance He’s doing a great job back there, but there are a lot of guys sacrificing bodies, blocking shots and playing tight in the D-zone. It’s definitely helping.
On special teams leading to success When you can win the special teams battles each and every night, you’re going to have success. To get one early and then hold on to kill one for Horc [Shawn Horcoff], it’s a big win for us. On getting to .500 It’s been a long uphill climb to get to .500. We’ve battled. It’s nice to be here, but we want to keep going.
