Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf
On moving forward
Just keep going. All we can do is get back to work in practice and recognize what we're doing wrong, and fix it.
On Philadelphia's goal late in regulation
It's brutal. That's as high and low as you get in a matter of seconds. It's something we need to push for again, push to be ready by the drop of the puck for the next one.
Andrew Cogliano
On the game
I thought it was an even game for the most part. [Miller] made some good saves and I thought we had some chances. We played a pretty good third [period]. At the end of the day, I don't know what else to say. We can't let in a goal with a minute left.
Pontus Aberg
On his second consecutive multi-goal game
I'm going hard every day to improve my game, and getting to those areas where you can score. It was a good play by Ricky [Rakell]. It went off my stick. I'll take it.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On Philadelphia's go-ahead/game-winning goal
They just rimmed the puck hard and were able to push the puck back down. We ran down with a winger and vacated the area of our coverage. They just made a Hail Mary pass to the front, and it was right on the tape for Patrick.
On the game
We have to execute more with the puck. The second period was our nemesis tonight. We were forcing pucks and turning pucks over five to ten feet inside the opposition's blueline. We were trying to make plays in cute areas. They didn't really have a complicated game plan. They were forcing us to dump the puck. We got stubborn and stopped doing that.
Philadelphia Flyers
Sean Couturier
On tonight's game and win
We came prepared. We were ready to battle. I thought we came on strong. We got a lot of pucks on net and created a lot of chances, and we were sticking up for each other.
On the feeling of being in the driver's seat the whole night
I think it's in those times that you have to be prepared defensively. You don't want to give up that little chance that costs you. Yeah, we played a good game. We controlled the puck a lot, created a lot of chances, but I thought we did a good job defensively coming back in the slot there and not giving up the second chances.
Nolan Patrick
On Anaheim's defensive structure and giving up a lot of shots
They kind of play a man-on-man system in the D-zone, so with our speed we tried to do a lot of scissor plays and hold onto pucks, and use our strength and speed to our advantage. I thought we did a good job at it.
On ending the losing skid and starting the West Coast road trip with a win
I think getting on the road with the team for this trip is good to get away from distractions at home and just be with the guys pretty much 24/7. It's a good start to the trip and we got to keep it rolling.
Head Coach Dave Hakstol
On the game overall
Our guys played hard right from the drop of the puck and all the way through. It's a heavy team to play against. You always know what you're in for when you walk into this building. Our guys were up for it and did a good job.
On the third period
Several times we were able to put three, four shifts together where we were able to build momentum. One line went out and set a tone and we were able to sustain that momentum. That is something we haven't done on a regular basis and we were able to do that tonight.
On Ivan Provorov's play
Provi (Provorov) was good tonight. Provi draws a lot of attention. Sometimes when things don't go well for our team, he draws a lot of negative attention. You've got to remember he's playing against the other team's best player every night and that's his job. He loves that challenge and tonight he was good and very sharp.
On the power play in the third period
Familiarity. You get to that point in the game, you don't want miscommunication, you don't want things to happen out of the ordinary. Things happen awful fast out there. That group that we used at that point of the game has been together for many years. They know where each other are and know what they're doing and there isn't any guess work to it.
On the Ducks power play goal
When you don't get it 200 feet, you end up with tired bodies on the ice and our structure was still good. I haven't looked at it on tape so I don't want to get technical with it.
