The Ducks fell to the Vegas Golden Knights, 4-2, in the club's fourth preseason game of 2017 and the opener of their second set of back-to-back games. The Ducks will conclude the back-to-back set tomorrow against the Arizona Coyotes at Tucson Arena in Tucson, Ariz.
Scott Sabourin led the Ducks in scoring tonight, recording his first multi-point game (1-1=2) of the preseason. Sabourin scored the Ducks' first goal at 11:52 of the second period and later earned an assist on Anaheim's second goal in the third. Sabourin spent last year with San Diego (AHL), earning 8-9=17 points in 54 games. Sabourin signed a one-year, two-way contract with Anaheim on July 2, 2017.
Giovanni Fiore recorded the Ducks' second goal with 25 seconds left in the contest, notching his first preseason goal and point. Fiore logged 16:11 TOI and recorded five shots in tonight's contest. He spent the 2016-17 season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (QMJHL), scoring 52-38=90 points in 61 games.
Captain Ryan Getzlaf made his preseason debut tonight, recording three shots in 17:25 minutes of ice time. Getzlaf led the team last season in scoring with 15-58=73 points.
Defenseman Brian Cooper appeared in his first career preseason game for the Ducks, logging 11:48 TOI. Drafted by the Ducks in the fifth round (127th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Cooper collected 4-6=10 points in 37 games for the Gulls last season.
Dennis Rasmussen earned his first point of the preseason with an assist on Sabourin's goal in the second period. Rasmussen signed a one-year contract with the Ducks on July 7, 2017. He spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, recording 11-13=24 points in 112 games.
